The project consists of two parts, which include three 250kW units in Monteville, Ontario and two 500kW units near Noelville, Ontario.
The projects will be implemented as per Canada’s renewable energy feed-in-tariff program, which guarantees power purchase for 20 years at a premium rate.
The company said that both of the sites will utilize woody biomass as feedstock to generate the power.
The sites will have the benefit of a power purchase agreement (at the premium rate) with the local grids and a biomass supply agreement with local companies for a term of 20 years, according to the company.
The permitting process has begun and it is expected that the project will become operational in 2012.
