Under the contract, Shaw will provide routine maintenance/modifications and facilities services to six fossil fuel units. This is in addition to Shaw’s contract from Exelon to provide fleetwide nuclear power maintenance and modification services.

Gerome Randle, general manager of Exelon Power Texas, said: “Contractors are an integral part of successful operations at Exelon Power Texas. We look forward to our partnership with Shaw as we continue to meet the needs of our customers by providing safe, reliable and environmentally sound operations.”

Fred Buckman, president of Shaw’s Power Group, said: “Exelon demands excellence in performance, and we have proven our ability to meet expectations safely and effectively. The addition of fossil power maintenance and modification services strengthens our support of Exelon while increasing our presence in the fossil sector.”

Shaw retrofits existing fossil power plants with air quality control systems, including wet and dry flue gas desulfurization, NOx and mercury removal and particulate emissions control systems.
