The combined heat and power (CHP) plant will be built in Kerava, a city of 30,000 inhabitants, 30 kilometers north of Helsinki. The plant will be fired with biomass fuels and will combine electricity and thermal production, covering about 75% of district heating requirements in Kerava. The plant is scheduled for completion in autumn 2009.

The company was awarded an engineering, procurement, construction and management contract, which gives its consultants complete responsibility for the planning and design of the plant, from project management and structural engineering to mechanical engineering, piping systems and automation.

The project has been ordered by the Finnish energy company Kerava Lampovoima Oy and will employ around 40 full-time consultants from Sweco for one year.
