The turbines ordered by Wisconsin Power and Light are to be installed at the Cedar Ridge Wind Farm in Eden and Empire in Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin. Delivery will begin in Q1 2008, and the project is due to be completed by the end of the year.

Wisconsin Power and Light, a subsidiary of Alliant Energy Corporation, serves over 1.4 million utility customers in Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin. The Cedar Ridge Wind Farm will be Wisconsin Power and Light’s first fully-owned and operated wind power plant.

Wisconsin’s renewable portfolio standard requires Wisconsin Power and Light to get approximately 10% of the electricity that it supplies from renewable energy sources by 2015. At present, about 4% of Wisconsin’s electricity consumption is covered by renewables.

Meanwhile, the BP Alternative Energy North America order will add an additional 300MW to the company’s US wind portfolio. Delivery of the 182 turbines will start in Q3 2008.

Both orders include supply and commissioning of the turbines and the Wisconsin Power and Light order also includes a two-year service and maintenance agreement.

In April 2007, BP Alternative Energy North America placed an order for Vestas wind turbines. The fact that they have now purchased 182 units of our V82-1.65MW turbine is not only a great pleasure for us, but also a welcome opportunity to further expand our working relationship with a leading developer in the fast growing wind industry in the US, said Jens Soby, president of Vestas Americas.
