The team will develop 25MW of mega-solar projects at eight locations throughout Japan, one after another between March 2015 and March 2016.

Under the deal, a 1.8MW plant will be built in the northern island of Hokkaido, four plants totaling 18.6MW on the main island of Honshu, and 3.7MW across two facilities on the southern island of Kyushu.

Tokio Marine will create a new fund and offer investment to institutional investors privately while Mitsui & Co Plant Systems will develop and build the new mega-solar power plants.

Upon completion, several undisclosed companies affiliated with Mitsui & Co. Plant Systems will run the projects.

MPS will continue development of renewable energy projects which include rooftop-mounted PV, biomass and wind power.
