Spanish utility Iberdrola and French power and natural major GDF Suez have entered a partnership to jointly participate in the development of new nuclear power stations in the UK.
According to the company, through the creation of a joint venture, GDF Suez and Iberdrola, together with Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE), intend to participate in the sale of nuclear sites owned by The Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) and the EDF Development Company. The consortium may consider additional partners.

Earlier in the last week of January 2009, Iberdrola Ingenieria y Construccion said that it has been awarded a €83 million contract to build three substations in Venezuela. These installations will be located in San Diego de Cabrutica in the eastern state of Anzoategui, around 800 kilometres from the Venezuelan capital Caracas.
The contract has been awarded by the state-owned Venezuelan company Corpoelec. The contract, for which multinationals such as Elecnor, Siemens, Sadeven and the KBT Consortium also submitted bids, entails the construction of three high-voltage 230-Kv/115-Kv substations – Tigre Nueva, San Diego de Cabrutica and Pariaguan – which are associated with a power station with an installed capacity of 300 MW.
