GE Vernova has wrapped up the previously announced acquisition of aerospace and industrial energy control solutions provider Woodward’s heavy-duty gas turbine combustion parts business in Greenville, South Carolina.

The financial specifics of the deal remain undisclosed. However, this acquisition is a key component of GE Vernova’s strategy to invest in US manufacturing and employment while strengthening its domestic supply chain.

The combustion components acquired are integral to GE Vernova’s advanced gas turbines, which support clients in addressing rising energy demands due to factors such as increased load and data centre growth.

GE Vernova gas power business president and CEO Eric Gray said: “The completion of this acquisition adds resilience to our supply chain, aiming to deliver greater value to our customers and the energy sector.

“I’m excited to now officially welcome these experts to the GE Vernova team and integrate them into our business.”

In line with this acquisition, GE Vernova has announced plans to invest over $160m and create more than 650 new positions at its Greenville facility.

In January 2025, GE Vernova revealed its intention to significantly invest in its Greenville operations.

These investments represent the largest since the company’s separation in April 2024. They are also aimed at meeting growing customer demand, strengthen domestic supply chains, and advance American technology that powers global energy needs.

The initiative also seeks to improve US energy affordability, security, resilience, and competitiveness while expanding the American manufacturing base for global exports.

GE Vernova’s Greenville investment is part of a broader nearly $600m plan across the US, as announced earlier this year. This initiative represents the first stage of a comprehensive $9bn global investment plan, focusing on capital and research and development across GE Vernova’s US locations, which are set to continue through 2028.
