The company had entered into eight agreements to create new generation solutions that cover Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia.
In Singapore, Engie inked three deals to develop smart city solutions in energy storage and electric mobility by partnering with Bolloré and Senoko Energy.
Partnering with Singapore’s Technological University (NTU) and Schneider Electric, Engie will create micro grid solutions, especially through the Renewable Energy Integration Demonstrator (REIDS) project.
The third agreement, Engie has signed in Singapore, is for establishing an international research hub with NTU. Through the agreement, the partners will jointly put efforts on renewable energy, with a focus on specific areas like energy storage, smart grids and power systems, wind and marine energies, green and smart buildings, and photovoltaics.
In Indonesia, the French electric utility has made three agreements to develop micro grid and other renewable energy projects, with an investment of $1.25bn that will be spent in the next five years. The investment will be used in the development, co-financing, construction, operations and maintenance of micro grid and other renewable energy projects in various parts of the country.
With Sugar Group, Engie will co-develop renewable energy plants, particularly large solar plants in Sumatera and Eastern Indonesia regions.
In the Indonesian province of Papua, Engie alongside Electric Vine Industries will finance, develop, construct, operate and maintain photovoltaic smart micro grids for 3,000 villages.
It has also struck an agreement to develop medium size solar energy facilities in the Indonesian province of East Nusa Tenggara with PT Arya Watala Capital.
In Malaysia, Engie singed an agreement with Sime Darby to jointly create business opportunities in solar energy and high-end, state-of-the-art integrated facilities management services.
