According to Gazprom, gas supplies to Ukraine itself are yet to be resumed due to the contract dispute, with Russian officials saying that differences with the Ukrainian government could create problems for the transit to Europe.

The company said that Russia had accused Ukraine of illegally accessing gas meant for supply to Europe and had restarted supplies following the deployment of a European Union-led team of observers who were monitoring gas metering and compressor stations across Ukraine.

The Russian government has instructed Gazprom to reduce gas supplies if it suspects Ukraine of illegally accessing gas again and completely halt supplies if the situation continues.

The stalemate between Russia and Ukraine continues over the pricing of natural gas for domestic Ukrainian consumption and the transit fee to be paid by Russia for using Ukrainian territory for supply to Europe.

Gazprom is a gas company focused on geological exploration, production, transmission, storage, processing and marketing of gas and other hydrocarbons.
