Under the €120m contract, Alstom will supply 36 units of ECO 122 wind turbines of 2.7MW each as well as be in charge of the operation and maintenance of the wind farm for ten years.

The Trairí project, which will generate 97.2MW, is slated to be commissioned in mid-2016.

Alstom wind business senior vice-president Yves Rannou said: "The Trairí II project will be the first to use our new 119m towers that allow us to better harness wind resources regardless of wind characteristics."

Alstom will manufacture the nacelles of the wind turbines at its plant in Bahia, while taking full advantage of the company’s investments in the country.

The latest evolution of Alstom’s ECO 100 turbine platform, the ECO 122 wind turbine combines high power and high capacity factor to boost energy yield in low wind regions.

Alstom has signed contracts in Brazil since 2010 to supply more than 2000MW in wind projects, including the supply of over 600 ECO 122 wind turbines.
