EDF Renewable Energy (EDF RE) signed a membership interest purchase and sale agreement (MIPSA), in October 3013, with Urban Green Technologies (UGT), a utility-scale solar developer, and subsequently started the construction phase in December 2013.
The ground-mount fixed tilt solar photovoltaic project features 19,000 Canadian Solar modules and is located on approximately 30 acres of privately owned land at the former Shirley Airport, 50 miles northwest of Boston, Massachusetts, US.
The electricity generated by the project will be supplied to the Town of Billerica, Massachusetts as part of a long-term power purchase agreement.
EDF Renewable Services is responsible for long-term operations and maintenance for the facility, balance of plant, project oversight, and 24/7 remote monitoring from its NERC compliant Operations Control Center (OCC).
Designed to create a more efficient, reliable, and secure operating platform, while benefiting from the centralization of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) functions, the OCC consolidates multiple vendor SCADA environments to provide a common operating view.
Renewable projects are managed by EDF Renewable Services’ Operations Control Center (OCC) across North America.
