The sites located at Butterwick Moor and Haswell Moor will consist of 15 turbines, specification MM82 with a rated power of 2,050KW each. Together, they will produce 30.75MW of clean power.
The first turbine will be installed in July of next year at the Haswell site, where five of the 15 turbines will be located. Both sites will be fully operational by the end of 2010, bringing REpower to half a gigawatt of installed capacity in the UK.
Per Pedersen, CEO of REpower Systems, said: “We are happy to announce this second contract with E.ON right after the signature of our joint ‘repowering’ project in September and we are looking forward to further collaboration. The UK is one of the most important markets for REpower and has excellent future and growth prospects.”
The turbines will be transported by sea from the company’s manufacturing base in Husum, Northern Germany.
