Hedleys uranium prospect is an airborne uranium radiometric anomaly along the Nicholson River Fault.

The company said that the radiometric anomaly results from daughter products of Radon gas which might have been separated from its uranium source and transported to the surface by methane and carbon dioxide escaping up the Nicholson River Fault.

The site of uranium source is uncertain and is believed to be on an unconformity between sandstones of the South Nicholson Group and the underlying carbonaceous Doomadgee Formation.

Drill core through carbonaceous units of the Doomadgee Formation and Mt Les Siltstone at Walford South showed bubbling of methane and carbon dioxide.

Alternative sources for the source uranium include widely scattered uranium in lithological sources such as granitic or volcanic rocks, the company said.
