HPP

Currently operating with a 5,120MW production capacity, the plant now has eight units active and another two will become operational in June 2014 and October 2014 to bring total capacity to 6,400MW.

The plant’s unit 4, the latest addition, had been re-started in August 2010 following repairs. It was then decommissioned two years later for replacement.

After the reconstruction work, which is nearing completion, the Sayano-Shushenskaya HPP would be operating with new equipment that would meet all safety and reliability requirements.

RusHydro said the life of the new units has been extended to 40 years and maximum efficiency now reaches 96.6%. The units also have improved energy and cavitation features.

For the Sayano-Shushenskaya plant, hydro power units are being manufactured by Power Machines that is also responsible for equipment installation.
