The test operations were carried out on the test drilling site at the Streicher location in Deggenau for Archer Topaz.

Developed on basis of the modular and partially automated concept of the first in its class VDD 400.1, the second rig is nearly ready for dismantling and going offshore.

The VDD 400.2, which is easy to handle transport as well as erection and dismounting, features a hydraulic power system to enable an extremely precise control and despite small components high power can be transmitted.

The second rig is expected to be operated for the decommissioning and sealing of existing bore holes in the Norwegian part of the North Sea.

Max Streicher drilling technology division head Dr Peter Romanow said, "All of Norway’s oil and gas industry focuses on us."

The company is scheduled to deliver the second rig on 15 June 2014 for use on the Statoil gas platform Heimdal.
