The company has commenced drilling the South Kecapi-1 DIR and DIRA exploration wells in the Bontang PSC, in which it also holds 100% operating interest.
Salamander will spud the well to a depth of about 2,450m total vertical depth subsea (TVDSS).
The well will be then sidetracked about 1.5 km to the west, while the South Kecapi-1 DIRA will be drilled to a depth of about 2,100m TVDSS.
Under the project, the South Kecapi-1 DIR/DIRA wells will be drilled to discover gas and oil area in a series of stacked Pliocene – Upper Miocene sandstone reservoirs.
Salamander will deploy Ocean General semi-submersible rig to spud the wells in a water depth of 388m .
The total mean pre-drill prospective recoverable resources are estimated to be about 275 billion cubic feet and 20 million barrels of oil.
