Rough diamonds production stood at 0.77 million carats for the quarter, similar to production rates during the third quarter of 2011.

The Canadian company demonstrated $84.8m revenue from rough diamond sales, an increase of more than 134% compared to $36.2m for the corresponding quarter last year.

A significant rise in sales was a result of a 286% increase in volume of carats for the quarter.

The company’s jointly owned Diavik Diamond Mine in Canada is projected to produce 7.1 million carats from mining and processing of 2 million tonnes of ore for the complete year.

Harry Winston chairman and chief executive officer Robert Gannicott noted that the company made considerable progress this quarter on many fronts.

"Our luxury brand business has demonstrated strong growth in its bridal jewelry sales, with the higher margins and broader base that this implies, while the Diavik Project has successfully switched fully to underground ore production," Gannicott said.
