The solar thermal power facility is under construction near Barstow in California. The Mojave Solar Project would serve 54,000 homes in the region when it becomes operational in 2014.

Telvent will provide solutions and adaptable tools that could meet the unique needs of the solar plant and parabolic troughs.

The firm said its solar field control system will coordinate the movement of mirrors in precise accordance with the sun’s angle.

Meanwhile, the system will manage communications between the incoming field data and the controllers. The DCS will help to streamline plant operations and maximize efficiency and energy output.

Telvent chairman and CEO Ignacio Gonzalez said, "For the last decade, Telvent has worked closely with Abengoa on all of its solar energy projects. Our adaptable solutions help them operate some of the cleanest and largest power plants in the world, providing them with support and security for critical infrastructure."
