The scope of the contract includes the installation of 56 Gamesa 850 kW turbines alongside a ten-year operation and maintenance award.

Commenting on the state of the Indian power sector Gamesa India chairman and managing director Ramesh Kymal remarked that currently many of the Indian states were facing acute power shortage and wind energy had the potential to meet some of the shortfall.

"Gamesa takes immense pride to welcome SJVN in the wind energy customer base and the contract further demonstrates the credibility enjoyed by the Spanish wind energy major for being the most preferred destination for foraying into wind energy sector," said Kymal.

The project is expected to be commissioned within 8 months of the construction date and and consolidates Gamesa’s public sector undertaking customer portfolio in the state Maharashtra.
