The order was secured from greenfield energy developer Farpower for the facility that is expected to produce about 100GWh energy annually, reducing 40,000 tons of CO2 emissions.

Contours of contract includes a 15-year service and maintenance agreement under active output management scheme and the delivery, transportation, installation and commissioning of the turbines.

Vestas Italia general manager Rainer Karan said that the company was confident of being able to deliver high efficiency turbines to the region to ensure cleaner energy for the inhabitants.

Vestas Wind Systems chief sales officer Juan Araluce added, "With its outstanding annual energy production, the V112-3.0 MW delivers the best possible returns at medium and low wind sites at a low cost of energy."

The company will commence delivery of the turbines at the beginning of 2013 with the project expected to commence commercial operations by the end of March.
