WGPSN will provide engineering studies, detailed design, technical and operations support to DNO for the ongoing Tawke field expansion project in the Kurdistan region.

Tawke oilfield is an important asset for Oslo-based DNO International, which has interests in the Middle East and North Africa. The expansion project at the field aims to increase capacity to 100,000 bopd by the end of 2012.

WGPSN forays into the Iraqi market with the current contract. It will, initially, deploy a team of 30 engineers in Abu Dhabi and mobilize them later into Kurdistan if required.

DNO Iraq AS general manager Nicholas Atencio said, "DNO is pleased to engage Wood Group PSN, as a technical and operations resource, in our efforts to grow our business in the Kurdistan region of Iraq. The addition of this world class service provider into the Kurdistan operating arena will benefit all stakeholders."

WGPSN regional director for the Middle East David Clark said, "The strategic importance of this contract is significant. Iraq is an oil and gas region of enormous potential growth, especially for Wood Group PSN because of the extensive number of brownfield facilities."
