The Tembakau-1 exploration well located in the Block PM307 offshore east coast Malaysia and 50km away from the Bertam-2 oil discovery, will be drilled to a depth of 1,650m in about 80m water depth.

Lundin is drilling the vertical well to target hydrocarbons in the Oligocene and Miocene aged sands.

The drilling is expected to take around two to three weeks time.

Lundin through its subsidiary Lundin Malaysia owns 75% interest in the Block PM307, whereas the remaining interest is held by its partner PETRONAS Carigali.

Six blocks namely PM307, PM308A, PM308B, SB303, SB307 & SB308 are operated by Lundin Malaysia in the country.

The Bertam-2 oil discovery was made by Lundin Petroleum in 2011.
