The wind power transmission project will allow the station to transfer up to 3 million kW of electricity, making it the world’s largest direct-current back-to-back power station, the SGCC noted.

With this expansion, Northeast China would be able to transfer power to grids in the cities of Beijing, Tianjin and Tangshan.

In addition, the project will improve the allocation of wind power generated in Northeast China which has abundant wind sources, reported China Daily.

The company anticipates that that the region’s installed wind power capacity would reach 24.34 million kW, accounting for about 17% of its total installed capacity.
