The company secured the order from CH Karnchang Company and expects to deploy seven Kaplan turbines during the next six months. Each turbine will have a capacity of 175MW.

Andritz will also supply a Kaplan turbine with 68.8MW output, generators and governors, automation systems, and other equipment for the project.

The Xayaburi run-of-river hydropower station contains a capacity of 1,285MW and is projected to generate 7,406GWh every year, providing electricity for around one million households.

Scheduled for start-up by the end of 2019, the plant will feature advanced technology from Andritz Hydro.

The company had recently supplied electromechanical equipment for the Nam Theun II hydropower plant in Laos, which began operation in 2010.
