The company is asking the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) for a certificate of environmental compatibility and public need for the new 345kV power line, according to The Morning Journal.
The new transmission line would be stretched from the Beaver Substation, which is a substation within FirstEnergy’s West Lorain Power Plant, to Brownhelm Junction of FirstEnergy in Brownhelm Township.
According to the company, this power line is a component of its planned Beaver-Davis Besse No. 2 345kV transmission line project.
FirstEnergy spokesman Mark Durbin the new power line will carry electricity generated at the Davis-Besse nuclear power plant and will bolster the power grid of northern Ohio.
The firm has filed its formal application in July 2012 and it remains pending at the PUCO.
