As part of the contract, the company will also construct associated facilities necessary for the connection of the plant to the country’s electricity grid.

Constructed with an investment of $270m, the 300MW plant will feature one gas and one steam turbine, and also will incorporate GE technology.

The gas for the power plant will be supplied by Mexico’s state-owned electricity utility, CFE.

The company will also sell the energy produced by the Baja California III power plant to the Mexican Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) for a period of 25 years.

Construction work will commence in April this year, while commercial operation is scheduled for August 2016.
