The firm was sending a draft Statement of Community Consultation (SoCC) to Suffolk local authorities for the Sizewell C project, marking the first formal stage in the consultation process.

EDF Energy Nuclear New Build planning and external affairs director Richard Mayson said, "We are very pleased to signal the start of our formal consultation for Sizewell C. It demonstrates our clear intent to progress our role at the forefront of the UK’s nuclear renaissance."

In addition, the company announced that the six-month examination of its application for Hinkley Point C power plant in Somerset has just concluded.

EDF Energy said it has submitted over 50 documents and supporting appendices in response to written representations during the examination for Hinkley Point C.

About 300 detailed responses to technical questions were provided by the firm, which also attended eight issue-specific hearings and five open floor hearings.

Mayson said the company is looking forward to working with the communities in Suffolk to develop proposed Sizewell project, including mitigating identified impacts.
