The mine contains an industrial coal reserve of 350,000t at its long wall face 21-1-7, and is projected to produce 150,000t of ore every month.

Operations at the New-Olzherassk Underground were halted on 27 February 2012 as a result of the coal self-heating in the worked-out area of the long wall face 21-1-7.

Mechel has equipped the mining face with the ZF mechanized complex, Chinese MG-400 cutter-loader, Russian Anzhera-34 face and rear conveyers, PSP 308 reloader and DU 910 crusher.

The technology enables the company to operate the mine using advanced technology for thick seam mining, whereas additional technology also ensures industrial safety at New-Olzherassk Underground.

Mechel has its footprint across mining, steel, ferroalloy and power segments and provides services across coal, iron ore concentrate, nickel, ferrochrome, ferrosilicon, steel, rolled products, hardware, heat and electric power producers.
