Unofficially referred to as Franco SW, the fourth well is located at water depths of 2,024m and has been drilled to a depth of 5,973m in stratigraphic horizon in line with the transfer of rights exploratory program.

Good quality oil (from 28 to 30º API) has been confirmed through analyses of oil recovered from carbonate reservoirs below the salt layer.

The company also collected samples from reservoirs of similar thickness which confirmed the extension of the oil reservoirs towards the south of Franco area; verified hydrocarbon column is 438m.

The well is located 210km from the city of Rio de Janeiro and 17km south of discovery well 2-ANP-1-RJS (known as Franco) and is part of the mandatory exploratory program at Franco area.

Petrobras intends to produce up to three billion barrels of oil in the area, following acquisition of rights.

The ongoing exploratory phase is anticipated to be complete in September 2014.
