The meter reading app enables customers to take a photograph of any electricity or gas meter in their property using smart phone and submit the image directly to the company.

It is the first app in the UK capable of reading energy meters by photo. EDF Energy’s app ensures customers are being billed correctly based on actual usage rather than on estimates.

In addition, this app can be used to track previous meter readings as well as it advices customers on how to lower energy usage.

EDF’s Energy Sourcing and Customer Supply managing director Martin Lawrence said, "It’s another step towards our goal to help people feel better about their energy, and comes hot on the heels of our Blue +Price Promise tariffs which have really stepped away from the industry norm, providing customers with a feel better choice."
