The drilling of Merawan Batu-1 exploration well in PM308B Block and will target hydrocarbons in Oligocene aged sands in a faulted anticline in an undrilled area, which is 50 km to the west of the Janglau oil discovery made by Lundin Petroleum in 2011.
Merawan Batu-1 is a vertical well to be drilled to a depth of 3,584m in approximately 60m water depth by using the jackup rig West Courageous.
Lundin Petroleum through its subsidiary Lundin Malaysia owns a 75% interest in PM308B and its partner Petronas Carigali holds the remaining 25% in the project.
Lundin Malaysia also operates another six blocks including PM307, PM308A, PM308B, SB303, SB307 & SB308 in Malaysia.
