Meanwhile, geologists of Botswana Diamonds’ joint venture partner, Alrosa will join for the work in the Orapa region, in near future.

In order to define exact drill targets, the joint venture team will conduct further soil sampling, geophysical and geochemical work while drilling scheduled to begin before the end of quarter one this year.

Botswana Diamonds chairman John Teeling said that the company has begun work on the highly prospective PL117 target and looks forward to the Alrosa geologists joining the Botswana team shortly.

"Indications are good and it is the top target identified by Alrosa," Teeling added.

Recently, the Botswana Diamonds’ geologists completed advance work and also procured the necessary equipment.

"Alrosa is the world leader in diamond exploration and mining today. It is a vast company providing 26 per cent of global diamond output and producing around 36 million carats of diamonds per year"

In 2004, Botswana Diamonds team discovered a diamondiferous kimberlite (AK10) on the same license.
