The loan will be disbursed by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) for the project, which is Enel Green’s first wind farm in the nation.

IDB Structured and Corporate Finance Department project team leader Brian Blakely said, "This project will contribute to Mexico’s goal of reducing its greenhouse gas emissions 50 percent by 2020."

Construction was completed in June 2012 at the wind farm which features 37 wind turbine generators, with a net generation of 278 gigawatt-hours on an annual basis.

The wind farm will offset 172,265 metric tons of carbon emissions per year.

Since 2009, IDB has allocated more than $240m for development of wind farms in the state of Oaxaca.
