The refinery will be renamed as Gunvor Raffinerie Ingolstadt while its marketing entity will be Gunvor Deutschland, following the closing of the sale on 23 August.

The company acquired the refinery from Petroplus earlier in 2012 and announced the receipt of all regulatory and merger control approvals.

Gunvor Group CEO Torbjorn Tornqvist, said, "We intend to build upon the good and enduring customer relationships, and enlarge our trading activities in Germany and the Alpine region. Gunvor has a long-term perspective for the Ingolstadt facility."

The Transalpine pipeline, which originates in Trieste, Italy, supplies crude oil to the refinery which has a production capacity of 100,000 barrels per day.

Gunvor Raffinerie Ingolstadt will continue to cater to markets in Southern Germany und Upper Austria.
