Comprising a hot gas path inspection, and provision of necessary parts and repairs, the $2m outage event was executed in only nine days, to address the maintenance schedule requirements of the plant’s operator, Jamaica Public Service Company (JPS).

The company also supplied its EcoValue compressor water wash technology, which is expected to be installed by the customer for two GE Frame 6B gas turbines, to help increase its efficiency at the combined cycle power plant.

JPS station manager Ruben Thomas said the service delivery was done successfully through the company’s proven process, work packages and organizational support.

”We are confident that the compressor water wash technology will improve the gas turbine efficiency and generate a rapid return on our investment," Thomas added.

Wood Group GTS-Power Plant Services president Frank Avery said, ”In addition to the cost-effective outage work, JPS will benefit from the long-term sustained improvement in output and efficiency gained from the EcoValue water wash system."

EcoValue compressor water wash technology is part of Wood Group GTS’ overall products and services that are designed to maximize the return on customer’s investment in gas turbine technology.
