The project included the installation of a 138 kilovolt (kV) capacitor bank and related equipment to reinforce the local electric transmission system. Project work began earlier this year and was completed at the end of November.
PECO’s electric transmission system provides high voltage electricity to electric distribution substations throughout the region. Electric distribution substations convert high voltage electricity from transmission lines into lower voltages for delivery to homes and businesses.

PECO invests hundreds of millions of dollars in infrastructure improvement projects on an annual basis to ensure continued electric service reliability for customers throughout the service territory.
