As part of the deal, the company will provide onshore storage, pumping and loading facilities to pump mono-ethylene glycol (MEG) through a high pressure pipeline system to eight RasGas and three Qatargas offshore wellhead platforms to prevent the formation of hydrates.
The project covers MEG transfer pumps and facilities to load road tankers, which will supply MEG to the RasGas, Qatargas and Barzan onshore facilities, and the capability to load marine vessels to transport MEG to offshore back-up tanks on the wellhead platforms.
RasGas chief venture officer Nafez Bseiso said the project represents a strategic step being taken by RasGas and Qatargasto manage long-term reservoir injectivity risks while sustaining our industry leading reliability.
"We are pleased to have Chiyoda Almana working with us under an Engineering, Procurement and Construction contract to execute the onshore scope of work for this project," Bseiso added.
