The electricity produced from the 650MW steam cycle thermal power plant located near the Suez city, 150km east of Cairo will be provided directly into the national grid and is estimated to provide electricity to over half a million people in the city district.

Alstom, as a part of the contract, will engineer, manufacture, erect and commission the steam turbine and generator. The company will also provide auxiliaries like the condenser and deliver spare parts for the project.

The thermal plant is scheduled to be commissioned in 2015.

EDEPC provides electricity for the eastern part of the Egypt from areas like the Mediterranean city of Damietta to the southern border with Sudan.

The two companies have worked together previously too and Alstom has provided equipment for EDEPC’s Damietta combined cycle and the Attaka steam power plant projects.
