The thermal power plant located 100km west from the capital of Saudi Arabia is being constructed by the companies for the Saudi Electric Company.

Alstom under the contract will supply two 342MW steam-turbine generator sets and eight heat recovery Steam generators for the power plant and will equipments will be provided in a novel integrated package which will augment power output from the plant by an additional 4MW.

Alstom Saudi Arabia country president Nader Abdellatif said, "Alstom offers leading steam tail technology which will extend the efficiency and performance of this power plant."

The plant uses the exhaust gases from the gas turbines to generate steam and run the steam turbines, and maximise fuel utilisation with a highly efficient combined cycle design.

The power plant is expected to start commercial operation by 2015.
