As per the service contract Wood Group GTS will perform a combustion inspection apart from replacing or repairing components as required.
The two companies had signed a master service agreement back in 2007 under which Wood Group GTS has been providing turbine maintenance to ESB on GE Frame 9B/E units across Ireland.
ESB spokesperson Gerard Stapleton said the company has a strong track record with Wood Group GTS whose efficient performance, flexibility and clarity of communication makes them a key supplier to ESB.
The open cycle gas turbine at the Marina Station has the capability to run on gas or distillate and provides power direct to Cork City besides provides back-up for wind power in the Cork and Kerry area.
