Thiess Indonesia has secured a $393m coal mining contract from PT Tamtama Perkasa, a subsidiary of the Barito Pacific Group.

As per the five-year deal, Thiess Indonesia will provide mining services for the delivery of 7.5 million tons of coal at Muara Teweh in Central Kalimantan.

Thiess Indonesia president director Roy Olsen said, "The Tamtama project is only the beginning of a long-term collaboration with the Barito Pacific Group and we look forward to developing their mining business and establishing a strong relationship with the group."

Operations are scheduled to begin by the end of 2012.

Leighton’s Broad Group Holdings unit said it has secured more than A$300m ($302m) of construction contracts throughout Western Australia, Queensland and the Northern Territory for clients including Rio Tinto (RIO), Perth Airport and the Northern Territory government.

Broad Group Holdings said some projects are situated in remote areas, with a focus on mining camps, associated infrastructure and work within indigenous Australian communities.
