The 345kV Pleasant Prairie-Zion Energy Center project will extend 5.8 miles from the Pleasant Prairie Substation in Wisconsin to the Zion Energy Center Substation in Illinois.

ATC local relations representative Mary Carpenter said, "This project will help relieve transmission congestion and strengthen the electric system in southeastern Wisconsin and northeastern Illinois."

ATC’s application for the Illinois portion of the line included a four-mile preferred route, which was approved by PSC.

The company will start final engineering and easement acquisition and commence construction next year to meet an anticipated in-service date in mid- 2013.
