The firm has completed a 22-acre stackyard work and has done preliminary site work in advance of the formal start of full construction.

Project Liberty will utilize corn cobs, leaves, husk and some stalk to produce ethanol.

The plant is scheduled to open in 2013, reports autochannel.com.

POET-DSM continues to establish the feedstock logistics for processing about 770 dry tons per day of corn cobs, leaves, husks and some stalk at the plant during full scale operations.

POET president Jeff Lautt said the company has been a leader in growing the corn ethanol industry to about 10% of America’s automobile fuel supply.

POET-DSM Advanced Biofuels is a 50-50 joint venture between POET and Royal DSM.
