The Greek Public Power Corp will purchase the electricity generated by the Rhodope SEF, under a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA).
SPI acquired a limited liability corporation to gain interest in, and become the developer of record for the Rodpoi project.
The company also worked with its local partners SDL Solar and Global Energy Services to identify the build-ready project, perform on-site technical due diligence and also to provide project oversight during the construction of the SEF.
Upon completion, SPI aims to perform operations and maintenance of the facility over the term of the PPA.
The SEF will utilize LDK’s solar modules.
SPI CEO Stephen Kircher said the fixed-tilt ground-mount utility-scale facility, brings a total of 7.4MW under development by the company in Greece in less than a year.
The company announced the first 4.4MW SEF project located in the Evros region in August 2011.
The second project, a 2MW SEF which is also located in the Evros region was announced in January 2012.
