A solar carport system was installed at the Technology and Health Sciences Center and two rooftop solar projects have been deployed at the Spectrum Business Park Campus and

National University System vice chancellor Richard Carter said these new systems will reduce the equivalent of about 1,000 tons of pollutants annually.

Completion of the solar power system was made possible through a power purchase agreement, arranged by SPG Solar and owned by an indirect subsidiary of Integrys Energy Services.

The rooftop and carport systems comprising over 3,000 solar panels, will generate more than 1.4 million kilowatt hours of electricity annually.

National University is expected to earn savings of more than $1.6m over the next 20 years as a result of the development.
