The manufacturing facility will produce high-efficiency steam turbines and generators for super critical thermal power plants in generating capacities ranging from 500MW to 1,000MW.
The plant also includes a blade manufacturing shop which now produces specialized turbine blades.
It will have an annual production capacity of 3,000MW by the end of 2012.
Toshiba JSW anticipates sales in the region of $400m as it plans to double its manufacturing capacity to 6,000MW by the end of fiscal year 2015.
Toshiba Corporation president and CEO Norio Sasaki said that this facility would become an essential hub to sustain the long-term growth of the company’s thermal power plant system business.
Toshiba JSW Turbine and Generator is a 75:25 joint venture between Japan-based Toshiba Corporation and India based conglomerate JSW Group.
