The well encountered a thick gross hydrocarbon column in excess of 50ft in the Eocene Upper Tay Sandstone, including 20ft of net oil pay and a separate ten feet of net gas pay with average porosity exceeding 30% and average hydrocarbon saturation of about 80%.
The Erne well, which is operated by Antrim Energy, has been drilled to a total depth of 5,562ft.
Antrim Energy holds a 50% working interest in the well, while Premier Oil holds the remaining 50% interest.
