The company is drilling the well to a planned depth of approximately 2,700m below mean sea level.

The well is being drilled using the ENSCO 5003 semi-submersible rig and the drilling operation is expected to take about 30 days.

The company said that the well is targeting a post-salt Sendji formation reservoir within a four-way dip closed structure.

Lundin Petroleum holds a 21.55% working interest in the licence which is operated by Soco International.
