The140km transmission line extends between Ranchodpura (Vadavi) and Zerda (Kansari) and is part of the western regional system strengthening (WRSS) project.

The INR 14bn ($268m) WRSS project will connect key business centers of Gujarat like Disa, Patan and Kadi, and will boost the economic growth of the region.

Out of the three, two transmission lines have now been commissioned in Gujarat, with the third transmission line between Raigarh and Karamsad to be commissioned soon.

R-Infra CEO & director Lalit Jalan said the company is pleased to announce the commissioning of the fifth transmission line and out of nine, five transmission lines have been successfully commissioned.

Upon commissioning next year, the project would provide free flow of 4,000MW to the western region of the country and would benefit all constituent utilities in the region.

WRSS is India’s first ever 100% privately owned transmission project on build, own, operate and maintain basis having a length of 1,500km.

The project was awarded to R-Infra through tariff based international competitive bidding process.
