LCRA is modernizing and expanding its power plant by replacing its 37 year old unit with a new natural gas-fired unit.
Earlier this year, the company proposed to replace an old 440MW power generating boiler with a new 590MW combined-cycle gas-fired plant.
EPA regional administrator Al Armendariz said the new LCRA plant will use improved environmental controls and install modern high efficiency equipment.
